Hopefully this falls into the wonderful win/win bucket. We have moved to a new studio and want as many people as possible to come check it out. I have started to interview new teachers for the studio but that has our calendar pretty empty until new instructors start coming on.

Therefore, Grapevine Designs & Studio is offering a promotion to book your own private crop. Book a four hour or six hour crop and you will save HALF of the private studio crop fee.

WIN: We fill in our calendar and get to show off our new digs.

WIN: You can plan a private gathering with your friends for crafting that best meets your schedule at a huge savings.

The place accommodates up to 16 people! Here are the details:

Must book and pay for space in full prior to June 30th to get the space at the promotion price.
Must schedule the private crop to occur before October 31, 2013.
Date/Time agreed upon by everyone.
Up until two weeks prior to private crop the event can be rescheduled.
No rescheduling within two weeks of private crop.
You can bring in your own drinks/food.
Access to tools, stamps, punches and other crop resources.
Includes a Grapevine Designs & Studio representative there during your event for any questions.

Paint Card Crafting

Last week we were in the midst of painting and I was itching to do something crafty. Flat out tired of cleaning, moving and painting. So I picked up a few paint color cards from Home Depot and took a 30 minute sanity break to make a card.

I cut down the paint chip card to be matted on black cardstock and fit on an A2 card. Then used the Cling Zinnia stamp (CRQ170) from Stampendous and randomly stamped the paint chip card. I stamped the Zinnia again and colored in with markers then proceeded to fussy cut it out. Truth be told I am not a fussy cutter but this is how excited I was too craft.

Tied some ribbon around the mat, glued in a couple of leaves from Petaloo and added a thank you rub on. The card still needed a little something so I did the big debate...emboss, glue beads in the middle of flower, spritz over card...then I just opted for old faithful...diamond stickles and and just added a hint of glitter over the flower.

Hot Ticket...Saturday Night Crops

So pleased that our Inaugural Crop set for Saturday May 25th from 2pm - 10pm sold out in less than four days!! There is a wait list already going so I thought I would put out the dates for the Saturday Night Crops for the summer.

Each crop is $15 and is from 2pm - 10pm at our new location 3454 N. San Marcos Place Bldg B - Suite 4 Chandler, AZ 85225. The crop includes munchies, a one page 12x12 layout plus access to tools/supplies during each crop. There will also be a companion page for an additional $5.

The dates for the summer Saturday Night Crops are June 15th, July 20th & August 24th. You can sign up on line via our website www.papervineyard.com or give us a call at 480-656-2058. The photos for the June layouts will be published by Tuesday of next week. Sure to be super cute!

Of course, if these dates don't work you can always boss me around. Get 6 to 8 of your friends together (or more) and book your own private crop!

New Beginnings - 5 Days

Yesterday my Dad and son Jon spent eight hours putting up the wall that separates the production area from the studio area. The two of them together make me laugh. My Dad has always been the boss and excellent at running a work crew. Yesterday, my Jon was the entire crew. My Dad pokes and Jon pokes right back.

My Dad is explaining how to do the tape and texture to Jon. I LOVE that Jon is learning things that most kids will never be exposed to. My Jon is a little rough (aka teenager cranky) but he most definitely has my Dad's aptitude for building stuff. I know if you talk to him in the store he is so sweet but look at the mean nasty look he is giving me as I innocently take pictures. He knows I must blog but not one smiling shot.

This is a long shot of the studio space. Yes! all this stuff needs to find a home before Saturday. Yikes!! Amanda comes in today and that is our mission. With the wall up we can put up shelves and start putting stuff away today. We don't officially open up until Monday the 13th but Dana has a class in here on Saturday so .....no pressure.

So what the heck have I been doing? Painted the front room. Mastered the drill and anchored the displays, set up the computer and entered five boxes of new inventory. There are several more to go My office/design area is starting to come together. Still no phone or internet transferred......not a happy camper with that but focusing on what I can get done. Still LOVING the space and enjoying seeing it come back together.

New Beginnings - 9 Days

There is absolutely no photographic evidence of yesterday. It was all pack, load, move and unload. A nice 13 hour day. This morning I am sore and am right now working on my to-do list for the day. Guess what....moving anything is not on the list today.

So I thought my blog today would pay a little respect to two young men that made yesterday possible. My TJ is on the left and Jon on the right. Both of them are consistently called (from my mouth) my monkeys, honey-bunny or my babies. Well, my monkeys are turning into fine young men who helped me yesterday graciously, energetically and I love to be amazed with their brains as they figure out how to breakdown and load stuff up. Not to mention they are so physically able to toss around stuff their mother can't even lift. They worked together beautifully yesterday and made the move a success.

They know that this transition is important to my financial security and for my future. They have directly been impacted by my long hours and daily responsibilities of Paper Vineyard. They love me and were absolutely wonderful yesterday. Damn....tearing up isn't on my to do list. Need to wrap this up. OK - Big thanks to my boys!!

Here is to today and to what I love the most. I am going to teach a class! Then, our family will wrap up the day celebrating my grandson's third birthday. A Super Saturday this will be! I guess NB-9Days is going to be a day of reflection and enjoying the special people in our lives.

"Wood" You Like To See Some New Stuff?

So what is Grapevine Design? Our laser machine allows us to design and produce custom images in wood, acrylic, cardstock and chipboard. As we prepare to produce a whole lot more the thought came to share some images of new stuff to come. The wood embellishments have certainly been popular. These little scrabble tile pieces can be incorporated into a layout, card or even your mixed media project.

New summer pieces will capture the romance of a balloon ride or the wonderful feeling of laying out at the beach. These new wood pieces really compliment the chipboard surfboard and hibiscus pieces we also carry.

Custom shaker boxes. We have done several for crafters making specifically themed projects for themselves. A name, saying or theme are great for these boxes and so easy to put together.

I pick this up at 9am. If you are on the road in Chandler today...be very very afraid.

This is the dreaded long, sweaty and frustrating day that just can't be avoided in any move.

New Beginnings Minus 11 Days

Started off the day with Amanda getting her key to the new suite! The first load of slatwall went over last night. I don't have a photo of my boys making the first delivery. They just don't get my need for photos...plus they have a lot more to do so no point in making them mad at me ....yet!

Here is a shot of the new suite, this will be our showroom area.

Next to the Showroom is an office that will be all mine. It will be my paperwork desk plus a space for design work. Check out the lovely door it has so I can block the view to my creative activities. No more torturing customers with my design piles in the middle of the store. Yeah!

You walk through a door and it is nice and open in the back. This will be the studio and production area. To be separated by a fabulous wall that my dad and son Jon will build next week. Sue and Amanda will literally have ten times more room to make chipboard magic.

Amanda and I are back from the new suite and I thought you might like a shot of the old store being broken down. It is a huge monument to empty trays and pegs. Amanda is diligently working on a Grapevine Design order. Yes, we still have orders coming in.

Today will be filled with more folks coming in to pick up fixtures and orders. Plus more truckloads of goodies.

New Beginnings - 12 Days To Opening

As I type this the 12 Days of Christmas song briefly (because I pushed out the sound of the scary scary song out of my head) ran through my head. This past month has been stressful...am I doing the right thing...can Paper Vineyard transform....will there be enough stores to sell wholesale. All valid questions. Miraculously, there was not a twinge of worry or fear when I signed the lease.

This is so going to work, I can feel it.

Metaphorically, Paper Vineyard has been in a five year stay in a retail and learning cocoon. The butterfly Grapevine Designs & Studio is about to emerge as a soaring butterfly. I can feel it.

This is a change from the original announcement but we needed more room to make this work and it worked out that a different space was found meeting our "needs" list.

Great Classes This Week

We have two great classes this week. Not to late to join in the fun!

The Cowboy Mini Book will be taught tomorrow Wed 4/3 from 10am - 2pm. It is a Rootin' Tootin' Cowboy book that features unique items created by Grapevine Designs. You will make a custom shaker box on the cover and use number stars to highlight your photos, journaling notes and memorabilia. Class fee is $40 and is taught by Adriana.

Dana has designed and is teaching a beautiful Happiness Book featuring a new collection from Glitz Design. The class is $35 and is Friday April 5th 10am - 2pm or on Saturday April 6th 4pm - 8pm. Each student will learn the piano hinge technque to bind their book.
